Research Interests

  • Functional Analysis
  • Perturbation Theory of Unbounded Operators
  • UNIX administration
  • My master's thesis was written on the Cayley transform parameterization for a class of self-adjoint extensions of the Laplacian operator restricted to a domain suitable to describe point interactions. A copy of my Master's thesis in LaTeX format can be found here and in .dvi format here.
  • My dissertation is entitled Smooth Approximation of Singular Perturbations of the Laplacian. In it I prove that a subclass of the aforementioned operator can be approximated by smooth potentials when perturbed by finitely and infinitely-many potentials. A copy of my dissertation LaTeX format can be found here and in .dvi format here. If you need a .dvi viewer for windows, run Linux. Otherwise, you can download a free (not in the GNU sense) .dvi viewer here.
  • The Philosophy of Mathematics. At Eastern all tenure track faculty write a paper related to faith's integration in his or her discipline. My paper can be found in OpenOffice 1.1 format, Microsoft Word format or Adobe pdf.

Publications

  • Smooth Approximations of Finitely-many relativistic Point Interactions, Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, A/188642/SPE/121946. (Published jointly with Rhonda Hughes, Bryn Mawr College).
  • Smooth Approximations of Singular Purturbations, Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, YJMAA8535. (Published jointly with Rhonda Hughes, Bryn Mawr College).

Teaching

My office hours for the Spring 2009 Semester are
  • Monday 10:00-11:00, Tuesday 10:00-11:30.
  • I am often in my office at other times so please do not hesitate to stop by. I am always willing to talk about mathematics and even some other things.
I am currently (Spring 2009) teaching
